Stevie Wonder / Boards of Canada / Fat Joe / Codec & Flexor

CRAAAAACK!!!

I wasn’t going to post this, since I try to stick to stuff you are less likely to have heard already but this cuts still a banger in the club. Cool & Dre are on the production this time. They were responsible for the good cut on the Game’s album Hate it or Love it (cop the Mary J. Blige remix) and are getting a lot of hype as the next Timbo-Neptunes-Liljon-Kanye... But I don’t see it… since they don’t really have a style of their own yet. Like Jermaine Dupri… Definately skilled, but he never really defined a sound of his own. If G-Funk was hot. He did that. If Crunk was hot. He did that. If it was early Timbaland style beats… He copped those. Same with Cool & Dre… so far.

Anyway…

The high pitched synth on top of the low slung beat is just illin’ on this. And I dig Fat Joe aka Joey Crack’s flow… Cept his singin’… Guy needs to recognize he he will never be as larynxlly talented as Ja Rule, but one day maybe if he tries real hard, takes a class or two at The BK Community College he can best Nelly’s country singin’ ass.

Course at the end of the day a hot track is still a hot track.

Fat Joe – So Much More

neeeext... this is some ultra rare limited pressing type o shit for yur earhole… It’s one of my all-time fav producers Boards of Canada (under their Hell Interface moniker) remixing Midnight Star! Saaaaaw whaaaa!?!! Yeah I know. Anyway this electro flavored jizzam came out in 1999 on Rob Hall’s SKAM imprint as a very limited 500 copy only release.

Midnight Star – Midas Touch (Hell Interface Remix) (MASK500)

The full 12” consists of nothing but the finest in illegal remixes of pop cuts from David Bowie to Yazoo by cats like Håkan Lidbo and Gescom (Autechre). Hot shit if you can find/afford it. Shit. Buy everything on SKAM and SMAK and MASK and KMAS for that matter. Dayum.

Here is a track by Codec & Flexor. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut laoreet dolore magna aliquam erat volutpat. I like it.

Codec & Flexor – Time Has Changed

The track of the week this week has gotta be the new Stevie Wonder (not to be confused with Wevie Stonder). He's back and with a sound that fits quite nicely alongside the whole soul resurgence of late… And yes that is Prince on the guitar and En Vogue (still freakably hot) in the background. Hell the remix even has Q-Tip spitting on it.

Man… hearing this makes me even more excited for a new album. Hope its dope.

Perhaps an even cooler thing is that this cut has secondary audio channel for the blind… whaa? so if you see it on BET flip your tv to SAC... and you will hear Busta Rhymes narrating whats really goin’ on.

Cop that shit.
